Samsung’s big step towards the connected vehicle industry
The acquisition of Harman get’s down in history as the biggest all-cash deal, that Samsung ever closed. As Samsung usually develops technology in-house, the transaction was thought-through especially well. Samsung set up a task force to figure out how to break the auto market as quickly as possible.
Two thirds of Harman’s sales come from infotainment, connected safety, security and telematics devices and services used in over 30 Million vehicles. These statistics leave no doubt, why acquiring Harman was the solution the task force chose.
The expansion will make Samsung a much bigger player in the connected and autonomous vehicle industry, that is yet dominated by google, Apple, Tesla and others.
