Mo Fe Ma, a Polish start-up, revolutionizes pregnancies
Mo Fe Ma, a company based in Poland, created ZuzaMED, a medical device that enables expectant mothers to check their babies’ well-being. The small, portable device monitors the fetus’s vital signs by simply resting on the mother’s belly, is easy to use, and has no side effects.
To develop and manufacture the ZuzaMED medical device, Mo Fe Ma collaborated with VELOX GmbH, a European leader for supplying and distributing specialized raw materials. Trinseo plastics for medical applications are an established part of the VELOX product portfolio.
Based on prior experiences with Trinseo materials – including CALIBRE™ Polycarbonate Resins, CALIBRE™ MEGARAD™ Polycarbonate Resins, EMERGE™ Advanced Resins, MAGNUM™ ABS Resins, and STYRON™ 2678 MED – Velox recommended EMERGE™ PC/ABS 7700 for the ZuzaMED housing.
EMERGE™ PC/ABS 7700 has needed attributes
EMERGE™ PC/ABS 7700 is widely accepted in the medical-device industry for its technical characteristics and advantages, including:
- Biocompatibility for extended skin contact (ISO 10993 part 5 and part 10)
- Low density for light weight
- UL94 flame retardancy for user safety
EMERGE™ PC/ABS 7700 meets essential requirements for medical-housing applications, especially for evolving home healthcare trends (self-monitoring, auto-injection, connected health, etc.).
This flame-retardant, housing-grade material allows medical devices to carry electronics and is listed globally at Underwriter Laboratories (UL) with a V-0 rating at 1.5 mm. Its properties allow for cost-effective wall thickness designs, even for bigger parts where 5VB or even 5VA ratings are needed (it is rated 5VB at 2.0 and 5VA at 2.5 mm).

- Exceptionally white base
- Durability against movement and jarring
- Dirt resistant
- Can be cleaned with a 40% alcohol solution
