INSPIRE™ Polypropylene Solutions in Car of the Year 2018

Car of the Year 2018

Volvo XC40 voted Car of the Year 2018

Following the Peugeot 3008, Volvos latest compact SUV model XC40 won the prestigious award of Car of the Year presented at the Geneva Auto Show. We are proud to say that just like last year's winner, the Volvo XC40 features Trinseo products.

Car of the Year is the world's best established and best known international prize for new cars. The Volvo XC40 was voted winner by the 59 judges with a clear margin. The model earned 325 points, followed by the Seat Ibiza with 242 points and the BMW 5 series with 226 points. For the Swedish-based and Chinese owned company it was the first time they won the ranking. Volvo's boss Hakan Samuelsson accepted the trophy at the ceremony at the Geneva Auto Show.

INSPIRE™ in Volvo XC40

For the interior, the Volvo tier Grupo Antolin used the Polypropylene resin INSPIRE™ TF1500 ESU in a variety of applications, such as the: upper B-pillar, upper C-pillar, lower A-pillar, lower B-pillar, lower C-pillar, seat belt guide, seatbelt cover, sill panel, tailgate component, window frame panel, and luggage sill molding.

INSPIRE™ TF1500 ESU is a talc-filled, high-impact polypropylene compound, which has been developed for aesthetic automotive applications. It provides good scratch resistance, UV light stabilization and high impact resistance even at low temperatures. Due to these factors INSPIRE™ TF1500 ESU is particularly suitable for interior automotive applications.

Suitable application areas include:

  • Instrument panel carrier
  • Instrument panel trim
  • Mid console
  • Door panels
  • Door pockets
  • Interior trim
