Another successful collaboration with Tata Motors
Tata Motors – India’s largest automobile company – decided to use our PULSE™ A35-105 for its air vent application in the new Tata Ultra 1516/1518. As of January 2018, all new trucks must meet new commercial vehicle regulations requiring all commercial vehicles to have an air conditioning system or a cabin ventilation system in the truck cabin.
The Tata Ultra 1516/1518, which belongs to the company’s product range of light trucks, is the best-selling Tata truck based on an Ultra platform. The decision to use a Trinseo product for the redesign of the truck’s cabin was another important milestone in the longstanding relationship between Trinseo and Tata.
PULSE™ A35-105 approved for Tata Motor specifications
“We have an excellent and longstanding relationship with Tata Motors and with its affiliate TACO [Tata AutoComp Systems],” says Trinseo India Account Manager Santosh Rathod. Rathod worked with with Technical Service and Development Specialist Mieke Vanhoof to achieve the best results for Tata’s new air vent application. Rathod stated that the crucial selection criteria for Tata Motors and its affiliate were Trinseo’s technical expertise and know-how with unpainted materials. Talking about the collaboration, Santosh says, “We seized the first opportunity to propose our low-gloss PULSE™ A35-105 and are proud to hear that Tata Motors was won over by our PC/ABS resin.”
Although Tata Motor initially insisted on use of a pre-colored material, our natural PULSE™ A35-105 in combination with a masterbatch impressed them nonetheless. Trinseo’s PC/ABS resin delivers optimized performance for interior components and had already been approved for Tata Motor’s specifications. Furthermore, the lower base color of PULSE™ A35-105 enables more efficient coloring while the pigmentation costs less. This advantage had a positive effect on Tata Motor’s overall processing costs without any loss in the quality of the application’s look.
Our PULSE™ A35-105 provides several benefits that match our customer’s requirements. These include high impact strength even at low temperatures, and low odor as well as low VOC. It has been developed for interior automotive applications including mid consoles, instrument components, door panel trims, pillars, storage, load floors and glove boxes.
